Recently, Academician Masoud Farzaneh, Chair of the IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Grzybowski Awards Committee, announced the results of the 2026 IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Grzybowski Young-Professional Achievement Award. Dr. Ran Zhaoyu, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering and currently an associate research fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Operation and Control of Renewable Energy & Storage Systems at Tsinghua University, received the award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the design of high-temperature energy-storage dielectric materials and the mechanisms governing their performance regulation. She will receive the award at the 2026 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE 2026), to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from September 20 to 25, 2026.
The IEEE Caixin Sun & Stan Grzybowski Awards were established to honor the outstanding contributions to high-voltage technology made by Academician Sun Caixin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Stanislaw Grzybowski of Mississippi State University in the United States. The awards recognize scholars who have made outstanding contributions in areas including high-voltage engineering and technology and dielectric materials. Presented biennially, the awards recognize one recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award and one recipient of the Young-Professional Achievement Award from around the world in each award cycle. The awards are supported by the Sun Caixin Academician Education Foundation of Chongqing University, while the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) is responsible for the global nomination and selection of outstanding candidates.

Profile of the Award Recipient
Dr. Ran Zhaoyu is currently an associate research fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Operation and Control of Renewable Energy & Storage Systems at Tsinghua University. Graduated from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, Tianjin University with a bachelor’s degree in 2017. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering from Tianjin University in 2022, supervised by Professor Du Boxue.She received her bachelor's degree from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at Tianjin University in 2017 and her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Tianjin University in 2022, under the supervision of Professor Du Boxue. From 2022 to 2026, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University under the supervision of Professor Li Qi. Her research focuses primarily on key technologies for the insulation reliability of major electrical equipment. By driving advances in equipment technology through materials innovation, she has been selected for Tsinghua University's Shuimu Scholars Overseas Program and the Department of Electrical Engineering's Zhengyan Young Scholars Program. She has published more than 50 papers in the field of high-voltage insulation, including 27 papers as first or corresponding author in journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation. She is also a co-inventor on 11 granted Chinese invention patents ranked among the top two inventors and has contributed chapters to two English-language monographs. She has served as principal investigator for projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Program, the State Key Laboratory of Operation and Control of Renewable Energy & Storage Systems Open Research Fund, the Open Research Fund of a Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Fund, among others. She serves as a young editorial board member of the journal Insulating Materials and as a reviewer for international journals including IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, Journal of Materials Chemistry C, and High Voltage.
