August 26 marked the registration day for the 2026 cohort of new graduate students at Tsinghua University. The Department of Electrical Engineering welcomed 96 new doctoral students and 53 new master's students, bringing the total number of new graduate students to 149. Arriving on campus with aspirations and expectations, the new students have brought fresh energy and vitality to the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Under the university's overall arrangements and guidance, the Department of Electrical Engineering made meticulous preparations and carried out the orientation activities in an orderly manner, ensuring a smooth registration process for the new students and helping them embark on their new academic and campus journey.

On the day of registration, a prominent banner reading “A Warm Welcome to New Students of the Department of Electrical Engineering” was displayed at the entrance to the West Main Building. Faculty members and student volunteers working on the orientation arrived early to prepare materials, set up the venue, and check registration procedures. At the orientation site, new students collected their student handbooks, graduate student ID cards, student status cards, student cards, physical examination forms, university badges, department T-shirts, and recruitment materials for the Graduate Youth League and Graduate Student Union, before completing the relevant procedures in accordance with the registration process. Staff members patiently answered students' questions and provided guidance throughout the process, helping them complete registration efficiently and in an orderly manner. The meticulous arrangements and thoughtful services reflected the Department of Electrical Engineering's care for and warm welcome to every new student.

Department Leaders Guide Freshmen Orientation

During the registration period, Zheng Zedong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering; Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering; and Guo Hongye, Head of the Department's Graduate Student Affairs Working Group, visited the graduate student registration site to guide the orientation work and extend their greetings to the faculty and student volunteers on duty.

The three leaders reviewed the registration procedures, distribution of materials, and consultation and guidance services, and spoke highly of the orientation team's thorough preparations and orderly implementation. At the registration site, they also spoke with students who had just completed registration, asking where they were from and how they were adjusting to their new surroundings. They encouraged the new students to become part of the Department of Electrical Engineering community as soon as possible and begin their new academic and research journey with enthusiasm. Laughter and lively conversation filled the site, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that helped ease the unfamiliarity and nervousness of students beginning their new life on campus.
