On the afternoon of April 21, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the founding of Tsinghua University, alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Chief Scientist of Huawei Digital Energy, Dr. Liu Yunfeng, was invited to visit the Department and deliver an academic lecture titled “The Semiconductorization Evolution Trend of Future Energy Internet Networks.” The lecture was chaired by Professor Jiang Xiaohua, and more than fifty faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students from the Department attended.

Semiconductor technology has been widely applied and continuously developed across all stages of power systems, including generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption. In his lecture, Dr. Liu systematically reviewed the century-long development of the energy internet, combining industry frontiers and key challenges to comprehensively outline the technological evolution and cutting-edge research progress in this field. During the interactive discussion session, participants actively raised questions on core topics, engaging in in-depth exchanges with Dr. Liu on technical challenges and engineering applications.

Dr. Liu Yunfeng is currently Chief Scientist of Huawei Digital Energy and formerly Director of the Watt Laboratory at the Central Research Institute of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Before joining Huawei in 2011, he served as Manager of the Advanced Power Conversion Research Division at the Global Research Center of General Electric (GE), Shanghai.
