Huang Xuennong, Regulatory Director of the National Energy Administration, pointed out in his opening remarks that energy development relies on innovation leadership. In recent years,Chinahas achieved remarkable progress in energy development, leading the world in installed capacity of new energy, and continuously advancing energy technology innovation. The energy internet has become a core driver of green and low-carbon transition. The Institute actively provides advice for energy transition and has become an important think tank and engine. The year 2025 is a critical year marking the conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the planning of the 15th Five-Year Plan. The National Energy Administration will steadily advance energy reform and development. The Institute needs to focus on key areas, deepen policy research, promote technology transformation, expand international cooperation, cultivate leading talents, and support the green and low-carbon transition of energy. He called on all parties to join hands to contribute to achieving the "dual carbon" goals and building a strong energy nation.

Huang Xuennong’s Opening Remarks

Zeng Rong, Vice President of Tsinghua University and the Institute’s inaugural Dean, congratulated the Institute on its 10th anniversary and thanked all supporters. He mentioned that the Institute responds to the national energy revolution, leverages disciplinary advantages, focuses on policy research, technological innovation, industrial ecology, and talent cultivation, undertakes numerous projects, is selected as a national high-end think tank, and supports top-level design. Facing the global energy transformation, the university will continue to support the Institute’s development, hoping it will plan its strategic layout from a higher perspective, promote interdisciplinary integration with broader vision, deeply cultivate innovative momentum, and contribute Tsinghua wisdom and China’s solutions on the journey of building a world-class university, thereby making greater contributions to the global energy governance system reform.

Zeng Rong’s Speech

Shi Yubo, Chairman of the China Energy Research Society, warmly congratulated the Institute. He mentioned that the Institute adheres to the concept of innovation-driven development, achieving remarkable results in policy strategy research, core technology breakthroughs, high-end talent cultivation, and international exchange and cooperation. Since its establishment in 1981, the China Energy Research Society, as an important academic organization, has served the national energy strategy, built a high-level academic exchange platform, formulated industry standards, and supported the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system. He expressed hopes for deepening strategic collaboration with the Institute, jointly making breakthroughs in the construction of energy internet standards, expanding key technology application scenarios, and jointly writing a new chapter in the era of green energy transition.

Shi Yubo’s Speech

Chen Guoping, Deputy General Manager of the State Grid Corporation and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, affirmed the Institute’s outstanding contribution as a domestic pioneer in the "dual carbon" goals and energy transition. He noted that the concept of a new power system is driving profound changes in the power sector. Faced with technical challenges from new energy development, the transition process must respect the characteristics of power development, promptly establish appropriate technical routes, and guide planning pathways. The State Grid Corporation has maintained long-term close cooperation with the Institute and will deepen collaboration in technology innovation, standards formulation, international exchanges, and talent cultivation to promote integration of industry, academia, and research, supportingChina’s energy transition and new power system construction.

Chen Guoping’s Speech

Phil Taylor, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), gave a video address highly praising the Institute’s leadership role in promoting global energy transition and called for deepening UK-China and international scientific research cooperation to jointly address challenges such as climate change. He pointed out that the Institute’s uniqueness lies in advancing energy intelligence innovation through new power systems to shape the future—this vision aligns closely with theUKand global development goals. Taylor recalled the long-standing cooperation between the University of Bath andChinaand proposed continuing to deepen UK-China clean energy cooperation through joint research centers, joint PhD training, UK-China training programs, and other cooperation models to bring innovative achievements to the world.

Phil Taylor’s Online Address

Dan Kammen, Chair Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, sent a video greeting congratulating the Institute on its 10th anniversary and sincerely thanking for past cooperation. He mentioned that over the past five years many scholars have visited his lab, conducting numerous exchange activities and collaborating on multiple journal papers covering grid stability, clean energy market mechanisms, and other fields. He emphasized that the Institute’s integration of energy technology, information technology, and infrastructure innovation provides a unique “directly serving livelihoods” pathway for global green transition. He expressed hope thatChinaand theU.S.will cooperate closely, move forward together, and look forward to further exchanges and visits in the future.

Dan Kammen’s Online Address

Kang Chongqing, President of the Energy Internet Innovation Institute, delivered a work report titled “A Decade of Energy Innovation, Intelligently Shaping the Future,” summarizing the past ten years and looking ahead. The 10th anniversary promotional video was then played onsite, reviewing important moments of the Institute’s decade-long journey.

Kang Chongqing’s Report

Following this, the forum held a “Building Dreams and Advancing Together” appreciation and recognition ceremony, thanking outstanding representatives and units recognized for “Senior Contribution,” “Long-term Partnership,” and “Strategic Alliance” for their remarkable contributions to the Institute’s development.

Recognition and Appreciation Ceremony

During the keynote speech session, Zhou Xiaoxin, academic committee chair of the Institute and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered the keynote report titled "Research on the Development Trend of China’s Energy and Power Systems under the Dual Carbon Goals — On the New Energy System Coupling Non-Fossil Electricity and Hydrogen."

Zhou Xiaoxin’s Keynote Report

Liu Shiyu, Vice President of the Power Planning and Design Institute; Yang Lei, Vice Dean of the Peking University Energy Research Institute; and Xia Wenbo, CTO of Huawei Power Digitalization Division, respectively delivered keynote reports titled "Prospects for New Power System Construction," "Market Construction and New Business Model Thinking of the New Energy System," and "Analysis and Thoughts on Communication Target Network of the New Power System."

Keynote Report Session

In the achievement release session, five latest research results of the Institute were released in digital human form: “Engineering Game Theory and New Energy Power System Application Methods”, “China Energy Internet Morphology Evolution Model”, “Research on Key Bottlenecks and Breakthrough Paths for Commercialization of Bidirectional Charging and Discharging (V2G) of Electric Vehicles”, “Energy Internet Annual Development Report 2025” (pre-release) and “Research on the Development of Power Digital Infrastructure” (pre-release)

Achievement Release Session

The forum featured a special “10th Anniversary Series - Voices from the Think Tank” salon themed “From Belt and Road to Global South — Towards a New Era of International Energy Cooperation,” hosted by Liu Jianming, Chief Scientist of the Institute.
