On July 16, the “Shijiazhuang Enterprises–Tsinghua University Industry–University Collaboration Forum: Special Session with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology” was held at Tsinghua University. The event was jointly organized by the Hebei Tsinghua Development Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”), the Shijiazhuang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology at Tsinghua University. Nearly 50 enterprises from Shijiazhuang, including the 13th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), the Information and Communication Branch of State Grid Hebei Electric Power Co., Ltd., PowerChina Hebei Engineering Co., Ltd., and Zhongchuang Hongye Technology (Hebei) Co., Ltd., gathered at Tsinghua University to engage in in-depth discussions and exchanges with faculty members on cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements and enterprises’ practical needs.


The forum was chaired by Zhang Jun, Deputy Director of the Institute. He noted that last year’s series of “100 Shijiazhuang Enterprises Visit Tsinghua” events delivered significant results, and that this special session with the Department of Electrical Engineering represented another important step in the continued deepening of university–local government cooperation and the advancement of collaborative innovation. He said that the Institute would continue to integrate resources and facilitate connections, promoting efficient alignment between Tsinghua University’s high-quality research resources and the practical needs of industrial development in Shijiazhuang, and translating industry–university–research collaboration into concrete projects and tangible results.

Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology at Tsinghua University, provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s disciplinary development, core research areas, major innovations, and industrial application scenarios. He emphasized that, in discipline development and scientific research, the department continues to deepen its work in traditional areas of electrical engineering, remaining focused on international frontiers and serving major national needs, while constantly expanding the boundaries of the discipline, vigorously promoting interdisciplinary integration, and advancing the translation of scientific and technological achievements into applications across multiple industries.

Wang Liyong, Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and Director of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, provided an overview of the city’s industrial development. He said that the forum represented both an effort to implement the coordinated development strategy for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and a concrete step by Shijiazhuang toward accelerating the development of the city as a key supporting node of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. He expressed the hope that the event would serve as an opportunity to establish more regular and in-depth cooperation with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, encourage local enterprises to proactively engage with leading research teams, establish long-term mechanisms for joint research, facilitate the translation and industrial application of cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements, and drive industrial transformation and upgrading through technological innovation.





At the forum, five faculty members from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University shared the core technologies developed by their respective teams and their industrial applications. Professor Li Yongdong introduced the latest research advances and applications of the department and the research team on Advanced Electric Energy Conversion and Electrified Transportation Systems. Professor Wang Shanming shared key technologies for high-efficiency synchronous reluctance motor drive systems. Professor Hu Zechun provided a systematic overview of planning for electric vehicle charging and battery-swapping infrastructure and vehicle-to-grid interaction, operational control and optimal configuration of energy storage systems, and coordinated dispatch of source-load-storage resources. Associate Researcher Yu Qingguang focused on methods for comprehensive evaluation of electricity supply reliability on the customer side that account for differences in the reliability requirements of critical users. Associate Researcher Cui Bin presented a systematic overview of direct DC power supply technologies for renewable energy, covering their technical background, equipment development, and engineering applications.

Subsequently, representatives from Hebei Zhongci Technology Co., Ltd., Hebei Chuangyi Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd., Naili Co., Ltd., Xian Kong Jielian Electrical Co., Ltd., and Hebei Huatong Technology Co., Ltd., among others, held one-on-one, face-to-face discussions with Tsinghua faculty members on common industry challenges, enterprise-specific technical problems, and pathways for translating industry–university–research collaboration into practical outcomes. These exchanges laid a solid foundation for targeted technical cooperation, project implementation, and joint research.


Following the forum, participants visited the National Key Laboratory Base at Tsinghua University’s Nankou campus, where they toured the State Key Laboratory of Power System Operation and Control and the Experimental Platform for High-Power Semiconductor Devices and Equipment. Through the close-up visit, the participating enterprises gained a firsthand appreciation of the laboratory’s formidable capabilities in cutting-edge scientific research and technological innovation.
Participating enterprises noted that the event provided an effective platform for communication and mutual collaboration between universities and industry, offered valuable insights into cutting-edge technologies, and established a strong foundation for future joint efforts to address technological challenges.
Going forward, the Institute will work with the Shijiazhuang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau to establish a regular program of university–industry engagement activities such as the “Enterprises Visit Tsinghua” initiative, further deepen collaboration among government, universities, and enterprises, continuously bring high-quality scientific and technological resources from Tsinghua to Shijiazhuang, and accelerate the industrial application and commercialization of cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements in the city.
