On the afternoon of July 2, the Department of Electrical Engineering held its general faculty and staff meeting for the first half of 2026 in Lecture Hall 217, Zone 3, West Main Building. More than 60 faculty and staff members, along with members of the department’s Party and administrative leadership, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zheng Zedong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the department. Sun Yu, Deputy Director of the Office of Confidentiality at Tsinghua University; Ge Gedeng, Senior Manager of the Secretariat of the University Academic Committee; and Zhang Zuo, Executive Vice Chair of the University Trade Union, were invited to attend.

During the policy briefing session, Sun Yu provided a detailed overview of essential confidentiality requirements and lessons from typical cases. She noted that confidentiality is a critical component of the governance system of academic departments and schools, carrying significant responsibilities. All faculty and staff members should conduct regular self-inspections and corrective actions and firmly uphold the bottom line of security. Ge Gedeng introduced matters concerning academic integrity, systematically explaining the key provisions of the newly revised Measures for the Investigation and Determination of Academic Misconduct and highlighting common issues encountered in practice. Zhang Zuo introduced the role and operating policies of the secondary-level Faculty and Staff Congress, as well as representatives’ rights and responsibilities, with particular emphasis on approaches and practical methods for preparing high-quality proposals. Zheng Zedong interpreted relevant regulations concerning the investigation and handling of violations in scientific and technological activities, as well as faculty and staff members engaging in business activities or operating enterprises, and conducted a warning education session, guiding faculty and staff to remain mindful of professional standards, maintain a healthy sense of caution, and uphold institutional boundaries, thereby strengthening the foundation for comprehensive safety governance across the department.

Policy briefing session

During the departmental reports session, Lu Zongxiang, Executive Vice President of the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Institute; Gao Wensheng, Executive Vice President of the Tsinghua University Energy Internet Innovation Institute; and Zhang Bo, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory, respectively presented work reports on the “Two Institutes and One Laboratory.” The Sichuan Institute emphasized the need to make coordinated efforts in five areas—strengthening Party leadership, deepening scientific and technological innovation, accelerating technology transfer and commercialization, expanding cooperation and exchange, and strengthening institutional development—to better support the university’s overall development and regional development priorities. The Beijing Institute continued to improve its industry–research collaboration chain, while its influence in relevant industries through mainstream media and its academic visibility continued to grow steadily. Supporting facilities at the Nankou Base of the State Key Laboratory of Power System Operation and Control have been comprehensively upgraded, with laboratory acceptance completed and equipment successfully installed, significantly enhancing the research platform’s capacity to support scientific research. Kang Chongqing, Dean of the department, presented a summary of the Department of Electrical Engineering’s work in the first half of 2026. For the second half of the year, the department will focus on advancing the development of “Dianyuan 2.0” and deepening reforms in talent cultivation, while emphasizing the need for the entire department to strictly comply with audit requirements and strengthen the standardized management of all types of assets.

During the retirement recognition session, Zheng Zedong presented flowers and commemorative plaques to faculty and staff members who retired at the end of 2025 and during the first half of 2026, expressing appreciation for their significant contributions to the development of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Guo Jingbo, a representative of the retired faculty members, delivered remarks, expressing his sincere gratitude to the country for its long-standing support and cultivation, to the university for providing a broad platform for professional development, and to the faculty members and students of the department for their companionship and support throughout his career.

During the recognition session, Zheng Zedong announced the recipients of the Spark Teacher Awards, the English Journal Support Contribution Award, the “Zhengyan Young Scholar” Award, and the university’s Advanced Individual in Management and Service. Together with Kang Chongqing, Dean of the department; Sun Kai, Deputy Dean; Wu Wenchuan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee; and Yu Xinjie, Director of the University Human Resources Office and donor of the Spark Teacher Awards, he presented certificates of honor to the award-winning representatives in attendance.

Retirement recognition and awards session

The meeting provided a comprehensive review of the department’s work in the first half of the year and outlined key priorities for the second half, helping build consensus and clarify the direction for future development. It provided clear guidance for the orderly and efficient implementation of the department’s work in the next stage.
