To celebrate the 116th International Women’s Day and better serve faculty and staff across the department while caring for the physical well-being and cultural life of female faculty and staff members, the Department of Electrical Engineering Labor Union held the first session of its “Everyday Makeup” lecture series on the afternoon of March 6 in Conference Room 102, Area 3, West Main Building. The event, themed “Perfect Base Makeup—Creating Flawless Skin,” featured senior makeup artist Zou Xiuping as the keynote speaker. The lecture aimed to help female faculty and staff enhance their personal image and confidence so that they may devote themselves to work and life with greater vitality and poise. The event attracted nearly 30 female faculty and staff members.

At the beginning of the event, Duan Yanmei, Women’s Affairs Committee Member of the Department Labor Union and Deputy Director of the Department Office, extended sincere holiday greetings and best wishes to female faculty and staff members on behalf of the department labor union. She stated that the department labor union has consistently attached great importance to the physical well-being and cultural life of female faculty and staff. In recent years, through initiatives such as fashion coordination lectures and yoga classes, the union has continuously created platforms for communication, learning, and relaxation. The “Everyday Makeup” lecture series launched this year is intended to encourage participants to pay attention to and appreciate themselves amid busy work schedules, enabling them to devote themselves to service work with greater confidence and elegance.

Zou Xiuping formally began the lecture. Drawing on more than twenty years of experience in makeup and styling, she began by discussing the importance of base makeup and provided detailed explanations on how to select suitable foundation and concealer products according to different skin types, as well as techniques for using makeup tools correctly to create a natural and translucent look. Ms. Zou graduated from the Mao Geping Makeup Program in her early years and was awarded the title of “Outstanding Makeup Artist” in the C.K. Cup Makeup Competition. She later studied under renowned traditional costume makeup master Yang Shuyun. With exceptional professional skills, she currently serves as a special makeup artist for organizations including the Tsinghua Drama Club and the ShuiMu Dance Troupe. During the lecture, she not only shared professional knowledge through theoretical instruction, but also invited faculty members on site to serve as models for live demonstrations, providing hands-on guidance on how to create flawless-looking skin through delicate techniques. The event featured lively interaction and an enthusiastic atmosphere, with faculty members actively discussing and consulting Ms. Zou on questions encountered in daily makeup routines.

The “Everyday Makeup” lecture series consists of four sessions in total. Future sessions will focus on topics such as eyebrow shaping, eye makeup techniques, and blush and lipstick coordination, helping female faculty and staff systematically master practical skills for natural everyday makeup. Participants remarked that the lecture content was highly practical and closely connected to everyday life, allowing them not only to learn makeup techniques but also to feel the care and warmth extended by the department labor union.

The department labor union will continue upholding its mission of serving faculty and staff by organizing more diverse and enriching cultural activities, helping female faculty and staff showcase their unique charm in both work and life.
