On the morning of December 6, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the China Institute of Communications (CIC) was held in Xi’an, where the 2025 CIC Science and Technology Awards were presented at the opening ceremony. The achievement “Key Technologies and Applications of Power Energy Information Processing”, with Researcher Ci Song from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University, as the first contributor, was awarded the First Prize of the CIC Science and Technology Award. The main contributing organizations include China Mobile Communications Group Design Institute Co., Ltd., Tsinghua University, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and YunChu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

At the fundamental level, the project changes the traditional paradigm in analog power systems in which energy control relies on power regulation, and for the first time realizes time-domain regulation of high-power energy control. It proposes a digital processing method for high-power analog signals, develops high-power analog-to-digital conversion devices, and achieves microsecond-level discrete digital control of 100 kW-class analog energy flows; it constructs the system architecture of a high-power digital energy exchange system, develops a dedicated digital energy processing chip (EPU), and proposes a millisecond-level time-division multiplexing-based digital energy frame construction method, enabling multi-channel time-division multiplexing of high-power energy flows, thereby transforming the topology of digital energy exchange networks into a new type of converterless, software-defined DC power supply; it builds a digital energy computing system and a computing–energy collaborative optimized scheduling platform, performing fine-grained matching and optimized scheduling between digital energy pulse sequences and computing task sequences, and realizing fine-grained computing–energy collaboration of “IT-ification of power supplies” and “computing driven by electricity.” The project outcomes have been deployed at large scale in live networks of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., and have been extended to industries including AI infrastructure construction, new energy power generation, grid-forming energy storage, electric vehicles, and cascade utilization, achieving significant social, economic, and environmental benefits, and providing strong technical support for the development of green computing power and the construction of new-type energy infrastructure for the energy internet.

The CIC Science and Technology Award is the most authoritative science and technology award in China’s information and communications field. According to the Measures for the Administration of the CIC Science and Technology Award, the CIC conducted formal review, preliminary evaluation, final evaluation, public disclosure at all stages, and solicitation of opinions for the achievements nominated for the 2025 award. Upon review by the Secretariat of the CIC and approval by the Standing Council, 39 achievements were awarded the First Prize of the CIC Science and Technology Award.
