On the morning of November 14, the appointment ceremony for Professor Sergio Cavalieri, President of the University of Bergamo, Italy, as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University was held at the Department of Electrical Engineering. The ceremony was chaired by Sun Kai, Deputy Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering. More than 20 faculty members and students attended the ceremony, including Professor Xiao Xi, Director of the China–Italy Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing, and Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

At the ceremony, Professor Xiao Xi extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by the President of the University of Bergamo and expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Sergio Cavalieri for his long-standing strong support for the construction and development of the China–Italy Joint Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing. Professor Xiao noted that this appointment not only reflects the increasingly close cooperation between the two sides, but also marks an important milestone in deepening exchanges in the field of education.

Flaminia Nicora, Vice President of the University of Bergamo, delivered a speech in which she expressed sincere appreciation for the cooperation platform provided by the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University and highly praised the fruitful achievements made by both sides in talent cultivation and summer school programs. About Sergio Cavalieri

Sergio Cavalieri is a full professor and President of the University of Bergamo, Italy. His research focuses on innovation in industrial production and operations management, and he also serves as an associate editor for several international journals. He is the Chairman of the Board of the Italian U4I Foundation. As the principal Italian representative, he has participated in the construction of the China–Italy Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing; he has repeatedly organized forums and conferences on bilateral Sino–Italian manufacturing relations and led delegations from the University of Bergamo to visit Tsinghua University and other Chinese universities. He is committed to promoting and strengthening cooperation between China and Italy in talent cultivation and frontier technology research and development, including technology transfer and entrepreneurial incubation, thereby building the most effective and successful bridge of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of advanced manufacturing and intelligent robotics.
