Recently, the China Patent Protection Association announced the list of 2025 Green Technology Innovation Cases, selecting a total of 60 high-quality innovative achievements. The project submitted by the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”), titled “High-Voltage Wireless Charger” — Wireless Power Supply System for Online Monitoring Equipment on Transmission Lines, was successfully selected for the list.
Introduction to the Achievement
This achievement was developed by the Institute’s Research Institute of Integrated Simulation and Intelligent Operation & Maintenance of Transmission and Distribution Equipment. It innovatively proposes a wireless power transfer system based on multi-stage magnetic resonance coupling, effectively solving the technical challenge of safely supplying power from the conductor side across insulators to equipment installed on transmission towers. The system can directly draw power from high-voltage conductors and wirelessly transmit electricity to transmission towers, equipping online transmission line monitoring devices with a “high-voltage wireless charger.” This fundamentally overcomes the bottlenecks of the traditional “solar power + battery” supply model, such as poor reliability in complex environments and high maintenance costs.

Schematic Diagram of Key System Components and Operating Principles
At present, the system has been applied to power supply for online monitoring equipment on 110 kV transmission lines, achieving performance indicators of output power ≥50 W and transmission efficiency ≥50%. It breaks through the technical challenges of long-distance and high-efficiency energy transmission in high-voltage environments, realizing comprehensive compliance with high-voltage insulation safety requirements while ensuring power transmission. With advantages such as high reliability, scalability, and ease of deployment, the system can effectively support large-scale deployment of key sensing devices for condition monitoring, intelligent inspection, and communication and positioning, providing a stable power supply foundation for the construction of the Power Internet of Things and promoting industrial upgrading of transmission line operation and maintenance models.
Background
The “Green Technology Innovation Cases” are jointly organized by the China Patent Protection Association and the Green Energy Industry Digital Transformation Promotion Center. The initiative aims to comprehensively implement the Special Action Plan for Patent Transformation and Utilization (2023–2025) and the national “dual carbon” strategy, to identify, summarize, exchange, and promote successful experiences and effective practices in the “dual carbon” industry, vigorously advance the industrialization of patents in the “dual carbon” sector, and accelerate the transformation of green innovation achievements into new quality productive forces.
