On May 29, the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) held its seventh Management Committee meeting at Tsinghua Garden. The meeting was chaired by Guo Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University. Chen Lizhang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Tianfu New Area, Pan Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee, along with members of the Management Committee from Tianfu New Area, relevant units and departments of Tsinghua University, attended the meeting both online and offline. The leadership team of the Institute and heads of relevant functional departments were also present.

At the meeting

Chen Lizhang, on behalf of the Tianfu New Area Party Working Committee and Management Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Tsinghua University for its long-standing support of the Institute and Tianfu New Area. He pointed out that after nearly ten years of development, the Institute has grown from nothing to something, from small to large, from weak to strong, achieving remarkable results. The Institute has initially established its "self-generating" capacity, becoming an important benchmark for provincial and university-local collaborative innovation. He expressed full confidence in the Institute's future development. He suggested that the Institute’s future development goals and functional positioning be systematically planned, focusing on three key areas: "high-level scientific research platforms, high-quality results transformation platforms, and international open service platforms." This will enhance the Institute's ability to serve national strategies and Sichuan’s industrial development, expanding its radiative impact. He also emphasized that Tianfu New Area will continue to support the development of the Institute and expects Tsinghua University to further strengthen its coordination and resource investment, driving the Institute to achieve new breakthroughs in institutional innovation, resource integration, and local service.

Guo Yong, on behalf of Tsinghua University, thanked Tianfu New Area for its long-term care and support of the Institute and fully affirmed the Institute's construction achievements. He stated that in the past year, the Institute has made significant progress in areas such as "upholding Party leadership, regulating internal management," "strengthening capacity building and enhancing development quality," and "promoting university-local cooperation and serving local development," which have been highly recognized by the university and relevant departments. Facing new situations and tasks, the Institute is about to enter a critical phase with the signing of the third phase of the co-construction agreement and the tenth anniversary of its establishment. He hoped that the Institute would further leverage its platform advantages and deepen Tsinghua University’s cooperation with Sichuan Province in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, better serving the country’s major strategic deployments in the western region. He also expressed that Tsinghua University would continue to strengthen its close cooperation with Tianfu New Area, jointly promoting the Institute’s high-quality development to a new level.

Pan Yong fully affirmed the development achievements of the Institute over the past decade. He mentioned that the Institute's mechanisms are sound, its operations efficient, and that it has gathered a talented team, continuously producing high-quality innovative results. It has become an important window for showcasing the image of Tianfu New Area and the effectiveness of university-local cooperation, providing strong support for local industrial development. He pointed out that the upcoming third phase of the co-construction agreement will be an important opportunity for the Institute to reach a new stage, and that it should focus on national major strategies and regional development needs, systematically planning its development priorities and accurately grasping the areas for effort. He also mentioned that Tianfu New Area would increase support for local scientific achievements transformation and the construction of transformation bases, collaborating with Tsinghua University and the Institute to achieve a higher level of cooperation and win-win outcomes.

The meeting reported on the adjustments to the Management Committee members and listened to a special report by Executive Vice Dean Lu Zong on the Institute’s work completion since 2024 and its work plan for 2025. The meeting also approved the 2024 financial final accounts report and the 2025 budget report. The committee members unanimously affirmed the progress of the Institute’s work and provided constructive suggestions for its future development.
