On June 18, Yuan Foyu, Vice President of Baidu Group and Tsinghua University alumnus, along with five other senior officials from the Intelligent Cloud Energy Business Division, visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) for a discussion. The meeting was attended by Professor Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, and Professor Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary, among others. The meeting was hosted by Professor Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of the Department.

Yuan Foyu emphasized that the rapid development of artificial intelligence will significantly aid the digital transformation and upgrading of the energy industry. Baidu has made substantial research investments in the intelligent cloud sector and has deep cooperation with leading energy companies such as State Grid and Southern Grid. Baidu hopes to collaborate with universities to leverage their respective strengths in the field of energy technology innovation. This partnership would focus on co-building an artificial intelligence energy innovation consortium through model training, platform coupling, and the dual mobility of talent.
Professor Kang Chongqing welcomed the Baidu Group's visit on behalf of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He highlighted the Department's strong advantages in energy fundamental research, as well as its long-standing close cooperation with State Grid and Southern Grid. The Department has achieved fruitful results in advancing scientific research, talent development, and strengthening industry-academia integration. He expressed the Department's expectation to deepen cooperation with Baidu, focusing on areas such as sharing resources for the power big model platform, establishing practice bases, and developing Baidu's intelligent cloud courses. This collaboration aims to explore the development of intelligent products in the energy sector and promote the high-quality development of the energy and power industries.
