On the morning of April 28, a delegation led by Meng Zhenping, Chairman and Party Secretary of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., visited Tsinghua University. Meng Zhenping held talks with Qiu Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University. Both sides exchanged views and held discussions on innovating scientific research cooperation mechanisms, jointly tackling major special projects, and promoting demonstration and application of scientific research achievements. Liu Wei, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of Southern Power Grid, and others attended the meeting. Zeng Rong, Vice President of Tsinghua University presided over the meeting.

Before the talks, Meng Zhenping and his delegation toured the State Key Laboratory of Operation and Control of New-type Power Systems. They were hosted by Vice President Zeng Rong of Tsinghua University, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), and Party Secretary Zheng Zedong. Kang Chongqing led the visitors on a tour of the department’s history museum.

Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, gave a detailed introduction to the research and development achievements of IGCT devices and converter equipment, and their operational performance in projects such as offshore wind power and ultra-high voltage DC transmission. Zhang Ning, tenured associate professor of the department, presented a talk titled “Carbon Emission Measurement and Monitoring Technology and Application Based on Electricity-Carbon Coupling,” introducing the latest scientific progress in electricity-carbon synergy technology and the application of self-developed carbon metering devices in the power grid. Xu Fei, Deputy Director of the State Key Lab, reported on the lab’s construction progress, major research achievements, and key areas of future work, covering topics such as talent development, important scientific breakthroughs, and strategic planning to address challenges faced by new power systems.
