On the afternoon of September 11, the graduation ceremony of China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing Summer School 2020 was jointly held online by EEA of Tsinghua University, University of Bergamo and University of Naples, Italy. Zhu Guiping, Deputy Dean of EEA of Tsinghua University, Wang Jian, Secretary General of CSAA (China Science &Technology Automation Alliance), Sergio Cavalieri, vice president of University of Bergamo, Professor Giovanni Breglio of University of Naples, and more than 40 Chinese and Italian students attended the graduation ceremony. The graduation ceremony was presided over by Giorgio Ventre, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Naples, Italy.

First of all, Professor Giovanni Breglio summarized the development of China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing Summer School in 2020. Totally 66 students from 19 universities at home and abroad participated in the study of 8 courses in this summer school, after each course there was a technical matching session, and 23 scholars and researchers from China and Italy participated in technology sharing, which helped Chinese and Italian researchers to create new scientific contacts and cooperative relations.

Next, Secretary General Wang Jian spoke on behalf of all the teachers who teached in the summer school, and he thanked all the teachers for their wonderful teaching. Teacher Wang said that the teacher team for the summer school next year will strive to develop a more diversified teaching model in addition to lectures and technical matching, so that students can be given a more wonderful learning experience.

Subsequently, Professor Zhu Guiping read out the list of students who were awarded the 2020 Summer School Certificate of Completion. Totally 13 students met the attendance requirement and achieved excellent examination results, and were awarded the Certificate of Completion. Professor Zhu Guiping congratulated the students on their excellent achievements in the summer school. You Hongsen, a doctoral student from Tsinghua University, and Dario Laezza, a student from the University of Naples, spoke as representatives of Chinese and Italian students and talked freely about their gains and feelings in the summer school.

Professor Sergio Cavalieri expressed his prospects and expectations for the new China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing Summer School next year. Professor Giorgio Ventre spoke highly of the success of this summer school, expressed heartfelt thanks to professors, scholars and staff of China and Italy for their hard work, and fully affirmed the new model of academic sharing and research cooperation between China and Italy in the field of advanced manufacturing.

Finally, Secretary General Wang Jian announced a piece of exciting news that the "China-Italy Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing" was enrolled into the new batch of "Belt and Road Initiative" joint laboratories approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The China-Italy Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing will forge ahead and actively carry out in-depth exchanges. China and Italy will join hands to promote diversified cooperation between the two countries in personnel training and cutting-edge technology research and development.

China-Italy Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing (CI-LAM) is the earliest cooperation project between China and Italy in the field of intelligent manufacturing/ smart factory and manufacturing digitalization. The purpose of CI-LAM is to promote and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in talent training and cutting-edge technology research and development, including technology transfer and entrepreneurial incubation, and its vision is to become the most effective and successful cooperation bridge in the field of advanced manufacturing and intelligent robots between China and Italy. "China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing Summer School" is one of the important activities organized by CI-LAM for the exchange between Chinese and Italian students. In 2020, the "2020 China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing Summer School" was all conducted in the form of online reports and exchanges against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
