Yashin Brijmohan

Yashin Brijmohan has a passion for the development of people. He is a Professional Engineer with a BSc Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal, a Masters in Engineering Management from the University Of Pretoria and a Post-Graduate Business Management Qualification from the University of Warick. He has held various positions in both Engineering and Education, and had the privilege to serve on various committees and councils both Internationally and Nationwide:

In Engineering, he worked mainly at the largest Power Utility in Africa (Eskom) where he played key roles, managing teams in the areas of Asset Management, Maintenance, and Plant Investigations. He has also led the design team for one of the world’s most complex photovoltaic plants, which is now used for research purposes. He is however commonly known for his expertise in Strategy Development, Business planning, and Project Management.

He is currently appointed at Monash South Africa (Higher Education Institution based in South Africa) where he held the post of Head of Engineering, Information Technology and Design, and now recently appointed as Executive Dean of Business, Engineering, and Technology.

Other notable portfolios in his career are:

Appointed by the Minister of Public Works on the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Council Member and Executive committee member,

Head of School for Engineering at the Eskom Corporate University

Vice President of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations, Chair of the International Engineering Capacity Building Committee

Chairperson: The Strategic Advisory Committee for the Engineering Council of South Africa

Chairperson: The Tertiary Education Support Programme developing Science, Engineering Research and Educational centres in South Africa

Chairperson: The Science, Technology and Innovation Park at University of KwaZulu Natal

Chairperson: The Technical Training Steering Committee for Eskom National

Board member on the Southern African Universities Power Engineering National Council.

In his private capacity, he was the Secretariat and National Committee member of a Meditation NGO, and he still spends much of his free time assisting communities, teaching the practice of Meditation and awareness of holistic medicine. He enjoys giving back to the community where he currently serves as Chairperson of a local Primary School Governing Body.
