Lecturer: Prof. Vaithianathan Venkatasubramanian

Washington State University, Pullman, USA

Time: 14:30-16:00, April 19, 2017

Site: 3-102, West Main-building

Abstract: This workshop is offered by Dr. Mani V. Venkatasubramanian to introduce the audience to research from recent research projects funded by USDOE. It will discuss power system oscillation issues, and their impact on power system operations. The workshop will also cover how such oscillations can be monitored using wide-area synchrophasors. Knowledge of power system analysis is mandatory. Basic understanding of linear system theory such as the concept of eigenvalues and use of Fourier methods is desirable. The workshop will provide theory base as well as application examples.

About the Speaker: Dr. Mani Venkatasubramanian is a Professor in Electrical Engineering at Washington State University Pullman WA. He received his D.Sc. in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University, St.Louis, MO. He is a Fellow of IEEE. And he serves as a contractor for North American Electric Reliability Corporation for studying oscillation events in the North American power grids using wide-area synchrophasor data.
