On the morning of December 22, the Postdoctoral Launch Advisory Group Working Meeting of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University, was held in the West Main Building. The meeting was chaired by Sun Kai, Deputy Dean of EEA. Yu Xinjie, Director of the Office of Human Resources, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department, and Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of the Department, attended the meeting. The first cohort of appointed Postdoctoral Launch Advisors, cooperative supervisors, and postdoctoral representatives participated both online and offline.

At the meeting

In his remarks, Yu Xinjie introduced the development process and achievements of Tsinghua University’s Faculty Career Development Advisory Group system, and pointed out that EEA has taken the lead among all departments in extending this system to the postdoctoral stage by establishing the Postdoctoral Launch Advisory Group, which carries important innovative and demonstrative significance. He noted that the postdoctoral stage is a critical transitional period for young scholars as they move from being students to assuming independent research and teaching roles, and that the Launch Advisory system will provide strong support for postdoctoral research training, career planning, and future development.

In his speech, Kang Chongqing elaborated on the background and vision behind the establishment of the Postdoctoral Launch Advisory system in EEA. He introduced that the number of postdoctoral researchers currently in the Department has reached over 140, making them an important force for scientific research innovation and talent cultivation within the Department. Drawing on the successful experience of the Young Faculty Development Advisory Group, the system brings together senior experts from universities, research institutes, and industry to form guidance teams together with postdoctoral supervisors, aiming to help postdoctoral researchers broaden their academic horizons and receive precise research guidance and forward-looking career development advice. He also introduced a series of supporting measures established within the Department to promote postdoctoral development, including the Launch Forum, teaching assistant positions, and special ideological and political research initiatives.

Kang Chongqing delivering remarks

Kang Chongqing announced the list of the first 16 Postdoctoral Launch Advisors and presided over the certificate awarding ceremony. The first group of appointed Launch Advisors includes renowned scholars from domestic and overseas universities such as Zhejiang University, Shandong University, North China Electric Power University, and Cardiff University, as well as senior experts from leading enterprises such as China Electric Power Research Institute and Beijing Low-Carbon Clean Energy Research Institute.

During the Launch Advisor speaking session, advisor representatives shared their perspectives and expectations both online and offline. Mou Shujun, Senior Engineer from Beijing Low-Carbon Clean Energy Research Institute, stated that he would fully support postdoctoral work and encouraged researchers to “engrave papers into the genes of enterprises,” promoting deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation. Wang Yishen, Senior Engineer from China Electric Power Research Institute, combined his own growth experience to advise postdoctoral researchers to focus on real problems and set clear long-term goals amid rapidly changing technological waves. Professor Cha Junwei from North China Electric Power University, Professor Ding Lei from Shandong University, and Chief Researcher Lu Ziheng from Beijing Zhongguancun College also delivered remarks, unanimously noting that the appointment carries a weighty responsibility and that they would strive to become companions, collaborators, and supporters on the postdoctoral research journey.

Launch Advisor representatives delivering remarks

Postdoctoral representative Ren Chunpin expressed gratitude for the high-quality platform provided by the Department in her speech. She stated that the Launch Advisory system is like installing a “navigation system” for the postdoctoral career, enabling her, in her research on power semiconductor devices, to more clearly align with major national needs and real engineering scenarios, and to feel confident about future development.

In his concluding remarks, Zheng Zedong first expressed sincere gratitude for the strong support of all Launch Advisors. He emphasized that the postdoctoral cohort is an indispensable and important force for the future development of EEA. The Launch Advisory system not only provides guidance for postdoctoral researchers, but also serves as an important link for building a high-level academic community and promoting deep integration of industry, academia, and research. He expressed the hope that postdoctoral researchers will cherish the opportunity, actively seek guidance, and under the joint leadership of Launch Advisors and cooperative supervisors, consolidate their research foundations, enhance comprehensive capabilities, and plan future directions, contributing Tsinghua wisdom and strength to the national energy and power sector.

Zheng Zedong delivering concluding remarks

The official launch of the Postdoctoral Launch Advisory system of EEA marks the entry of postdoctoral cultivation, this core group of young research forces, into a new stage of systematic and refined support, injecting new momentum into the growth of high-level innovative talents.
