On October 18, 2025, the 2025 Annual Conference of Tsinghua EEA (Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics) Alumni and the Inaugural Conference of Electrical Engineering Committee of Shaanxi Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association were successfully held in Xi’an, Shaanxi. Attendees included Ji Junmin, Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Board of Trustees and Vice President of the Tsinghua Alumni Association; Yuan Jianxiong, Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Association Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; Mu Huaiyu, Vice President of the Shaanxi Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association; Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics and President of the Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association; Zhuang Yu, President of the Tianjin EEA Alumni Association; Zhou Qing, Vice President of the Shanghai EEA Alumni Association; as well as leaders and guests from branch associations of EEA alumni and professional committees from Zhejiang, Sichuan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Shanghai, and other regions. The event gathered more than 150 experts, scholars, enterprise representatives, and alumni from universities, enterprises, and industry associations. The meeting was hosted by Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of EEA and Vice President of the Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association.

Ji Junmin’s Speech

In his speech, Ji Junmin expressed his deep expectations for the development of alumni in Shaanxi, encouraging everyone to continue promoting the Tsinghua spirit, serve their positions and local communities, and contribute to the energy, power, and technological innovation sectors. He reviewed the department’s history of cultivating a large number of outstanding talents for the nation, especially praising alumni rooted in the Northwest for their significant contributions to regional energy development. He outlined three hopes for the newly established Electrical Engineering Professional Committee: to serve as a “connector” that unites professional strength and promotes deep integration; to act as a “think tank” and “power source” serving national strategies and regional development; and to function as a “service station” and “legacy carrier” that supports alumni growth and passes on the Tsinghua spirit.

Inauguration Ceremony of the Shaanxi Electrical Engineering Committee

To better serve EEA alumni in Shaanxi and the Northwest region and to further strengthen cohesion and a sense of belonging among alumni, the Shaanxi Electrical Engineering Committee was established. Ji Junmin, Mu Huaiyu, Kang Chongqing, Yang Baolin (former Deputy General Manager of China XD Group Co., Ltd. and Honorary President of the EEA Professional Committee), and Feng Yuchang (former Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company and President of the EEA Professional Committee) jointly inaugurated the committee. This marks a closer communication and development platform for EEA alumni across the seven Northwest provinces (Xinjiang, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia).

Kang Chongqing Introduces EEA Development

Kang Chongqing provided a systematic introduction to the latest developments of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics in terms of faculty, research achievements, and talent cultivation. He highlighted the department’s “one department, two institutes, one laboratory, one alliance” development framework, the “one axis, two wings” disciplinary system, and innovative explorations in talent cultivation under the college system reform through “Weiyang College” and “Ziqiang College.” He emphasized that the department will continue to advance education and teaching reforms, deepen industry-academia-research integration, and serve the nation’s “dual-carbon” strategy and New Type Power system construction.

Alumni Sharing Session

During the alumni sharing session, Yang Baolin, Class of 1979 alumnus, former Deputy General Manager of China XD Group Co., Ltd., and Honorary President of the Professional Committee, fondly recalled his forty-year career rooted in Xi’an and service at XD Group, sharing how the Tsinghua values of “modesty,” “scientific method,” and “patriotism” profoundly influenced his professional journey. Wu Jinglong, Class of 1985 alumnus, former Chairman of Northern United Electric Power Co., Ltd., and President of the Inner Mongolia Tsinghua Alumni Association, shared his over thirty years of work in Inner Mongolia’s energy sector, emphasizing the professional confidence and sense of responsibility instilled by EEA and Tsinghua.

Feng Yuchang’s Speech

Feng Yuchang, President of the Shaanxi Electrical Engineering Committee, stated that the committee will focus on building a “bridge of connection,” serving as a “service station,” and acting as a “spokesperson” to support alumni growth and regional development. Together with committee members, he will uphold the original intention of promoting alumni networking, mutual assistance, and shared achievements, fully mobilizing alumni wisdom, passing on the Tsinghua spirit, and making the committee a warm hub for EEA alumni in Northwest China.

2025 New Type Power System Alumni Forum

At the concurrently held 2025 New Type Power System Alumni Forum, multiple industry experts and alumni representatives conducted in-depth discussions on topics including power markets, energy storage technology, power electronics, and market-oriented reforms. The forum was hosted by Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of EEA and Secretary-General of the Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association. Pang Bo, Deputy General Manager of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd., presented on “Construction and Operation Practice of the National Unified Power Market,” outlining progress and deepening strategies for the national unified power market. Professor Ci Song, EEA Researcher, shared the latest breakthroughs in “Hundred-Megawatt-Level Dynamic Reconfigurable Battery Energy Storage Technology.” Wang Shicheng, Chairman of Beijing Suoying Electric Technology Co., Ltd., discussed the development trend of grid-connected energy storage moving from “strong allocation” to market-oriented value creation. Wang Yang, Chairman of Beijing Qingneng Interconnect Technology Co., Ltd., analyzed challenges and development directions in power market reform adapting to the New Type Power system. Strengthening communication and cooperation in these areas promotes rapid development of New Type Power systems and industrial upgrades, contributing to a sustainable future.

Visits and Tours

On the morning of October 19, the alumni association organized visits to the State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company Marketing Service Center Power Load Management Platform, as well as China XD Group Co., Ltd.’s transformer, switch, and high-voltage research facilities, giving participants a more comprehensive understanding of China’s advanced power equipment manufacturing capabilities and modern smart grid operations.

This event was strongly supported by alumni-owned companies including Shanxi Guorun Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Soaring Electric Technology Co., Ltd., Chengdu Deep Sensing Technology Co., Ltd., Xuchang Intelligent Relay Co., Ltd., and Jingzhi Embodied Intelligence Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. It also received strong support from the Shaanxi Chapter of the Tsinghua Alumni Association, the EEA Professional Committee, and EEA alumni in the Northwest region.

The successful event provided a high-quality platform for EEA alumni and industry professionals to communicate, collaborate, and plan future development. It is expected to gather more wisdom and strength in the future, writing a more brilliant chapter for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics!
