Recently, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) announced the winners of the 2025 IET Postgraduate Research Awards. Xiao Yikang, a doctoral student from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University, received the IET Postgraduate Prize in recognition of his outstanding research achievements, becoming the only awardee from an Asian university this year.
Xiao Yikang’s research focuses on the transient modeling, simulation, and optimized design of silicon carbide metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (SiC MOSFETs). He proposed a segmented analytical transient model and multi-time-scale coupled simulation method for SiC MOSFETs, as well as a low-cost, low-loss flexible converter structure design approach. His work was jointly supervised by Prof. Zhao Zengming and Associate Prof. Ji Shiqi.
