On March 29, the 8th (2025) Tsinghua-Sichuan Technology Achievement Matchmaking Conference, themed "Innovation in Tianfu · Intelligence in Chengdu", was held in Tianfu New Area, Sichuan.

Opening Ceremony

At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Lu Songming, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology; Xu Xingguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chengdu Municipal Government and Vice Mayor; Guo Yong, Deputy Party Secretary of Tsinghua University; and Mu Jun, Party Committee Member and Vice Chairman of Sichuan Energy Investment Group.

Lu Songming stated that Sichuan Province and Tsinghua University have carried out a series of fruitful collaborations in technological innovation, significantly enhancing Sichuan’s status and influence in the national innovation landscape. The Sichuan Department of Science and Technology will continue to deepen cooperation with Tsinghua, intensify joint research and achievement transformation efforts, and provide strong support for industrial upgrading and high-quality development in Sichuan.

Xu Xingguo introduced Chengdu’s development in technological innovation and emerging industries, reviewed the achievements of city-university cooperation with Tsinghua, and expressed the hope for deeper collaboration. He emphasized the need to jointly promote the establishment of high-level innovation platforms and the commercialization of technological achievements in Chengdu, aiming to elevate the partnership to a new level.

Guo Yong noted that the strategic cooperation between Tsinghua University and Sichuan Province embodies the deep integration of Tsinghua’s spirit of self-discipline with Sichuan’s open and inclusive culture. Tsinghua will continue to leverage its comprehensive strengths, diversify cooperation forms, and deepen collaboration to deliver more high-quality outcomes in service of Sichuan’s economic and social development.

Mu Jun highlighted the cooperation between Sichuan Energy Investment Group and Tsinghua University in technological research, platform construction, and industry-academia integration. He committed to advancing the alignment between Tsinghua’s innovative resources and Sichuan’s industrial needs with concrete actions, contributing to the cultivation of new productive forces and China’s technological self-reliance.

Pan Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Tianfu New Area, introduced the region’s efforts in building a favorable ecosystem for achievement transformation—such as concentrating tech resources, strengthening science and technology services, enhancing integration between science and industry, and reinforcing supportive policies.

Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute released its top ten innovations of 2024, focused on application scenarios such as renewable energy generation, new energy storage, key equipment for smart grids, and interdisciplinary energy systems.

Inauguration of the “Government-Industry-Academia Collaborative Achievement Transformation Base”

The event also saw the centralized signing of four institute-enterprise cooperation projects and two institute-department collaboration projects. A highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “Government-Industry-University Collaborative Achievement Transformation Base”, co-built by the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Tianfu New Area, and enterprises across the energy internet industry chain.

During the keynote session, experts such as: Jin Feng, Chair of the Academic Committee of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University, Cao Junzheng, Chief HVDC Expert at TBEA Central Research Institute, Chen Xuesong, Vice President of Zhipu AI, and Lan Xudong, Professor and Deputy Director of the Aerospace Propulsion Research Center at Tsinghua University, shared thematic insights based on their research fields, offering forward-looking analysis for emerging industries.

In a morning roundtable, representatives from Chengdu’s Science and Technology Bureau, Investment Promotion Bureau, Economic and Information Bureau, and major industrial parks engaged in face-to-face discussions with over 40 participating tech companies, using a “problem-solving” dialogue format to facilitate the implementation of high-quality industrial projects in Chengdu.

In the afternoon, two innovation-themed roadshow sessions were held: one focused on energy technology innovation, and the other on diversified scientific and technological innovations. Nearly 30 distinctive and promising innovation projects were showcased, drawing interest from over 20 prominent investment institutions.

The event was guided by the Talent Work Leading Group Office of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology. It was co-hosted by the Chengdu Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Tianfu New Area Administrative Committee, and Tsinghua University’s Office of Domestic Cooperation. Organizers included the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, the Science and Technology Bureau of Tianfu New Area, Tianfu Qingyuan Holdings, Chengdu Productivity Promotion Center, and the National Technology Transfer Southwest Center. Nearly 400 participants attended, including officials from Sichuan provincial departments, Chengdu and its counties/districts, representatives from Tsinghua University and its alumni association, universities and institutes in Sichuan, project companies, leading enterprises, and investment institutions.
