For ninety-three years through trials and progress, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University has forged excellence. A prestigious academic department nurturing countless talents; at the forefront of research and innovation, illuminating the power of electricity. Time flows and azaleas bloom. Hosted by the Tsinghua Alumni Association’s EEA Branch and co-organized by the EEE Youth League Committee, Student Union, Graduate Youth League Committee, and Graduate Student Union, the EEA Alumni Forum and “Add E Plan” themed "Sailing Forward, Passing the Torch" are about to launch.

The forum specially invites three senior alumni to deliver keynote speeches: Ouyang Changyu (admitted in 1982), Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Corporation, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director at the State Grid Energy Research Institute; Wang Guanghui (admitted in 1986), President of the China Hydropower Quality Management Association and Director of the Hydropower Quality Development Research Institute; Zhang Donghui (admitted in 1992), Founder of Beijing Zhongqing Zhihui Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

They will share unique academic insights and practical experience, discuss building a spiritual home, recount entrepreneurial journeys, and promote academic innovation. Ouyang Changyu

Admitted to Tsinghua University’s Department of Electrical Engineering in 1982 and graduated in 1989 with dual bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering. He is a professor-level senior engineer. He has worked successively in various departments including the China Electricity Council Policy Planning Department, the Ministry of Electric Power Planning Division, the National Electric Power Company’s Investment Planning and Strategic Planning Departments, State Grid Corporation’s Strategic Planning Department, and power companies in Hubei and Jiangxi provinces, among others. Currently, he serves as Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Corporation, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the State Grid Energy Research Institute, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering. His work focuses on power development strategy, planning, policy research and management, project management, grid construction, human resources, ideological and political work, and legal compliance.

Wang Guanghui

Graduated from Tsinghua University in 1991, majoring in Power Systems and Automation. He has held positions at the China Electricity Council, Ministry of Electric Power Industry, National Economic and Trade Commission, National Electric Power Company, and State Grid Corporation. Since 2003, he has worked within the State Grid system in roles such as Deputy Director of the General Manager’s Office (Office of the Chairman), Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department (System Reform Office), Deputy General Manager of Northeast Power Grid Co., Ltd. (Chief Commander of 500kV Projects and Director of the China-North Korea Border River Committee), Deputy Secretary and Vice President of China Electric Power Research Institute, and Party Secretary of State Grid Information & Communication Co., Ltd. From 2013 to 2024, he served as Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the State Grid Energy Research Institute. Since August 2024, he has been President of the China Hydropower Quality Management Association and Director of the Hydropower Quality Development Research Institute.

Zhang Donghui

Enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1992, majoring in Power System Automation. After graduation, he worked as a Senior System Engineer, Regional Sales General Manager, and Department General Manager at Siemens Transmission Group. He holds 8 invention patents and has participated in the design of more than 20 DC transmission projects worldwide, managing 5 ultra-high-voltage DC transmission projects. After starting his own business, he proposed the world’s first “multi-terminal flexible DC traction power supply system for electrified railways” and participated in key scientific research projects for the National Railway Group. Recently, his focus has been on energy management and fast coordinated control system development for large electrochemical energy storage systems, optimization of new power systems with high renewable energy penetration, and distributed new energy AC/DC hybrid microgrid operation control. His research has been successfully applied on a large scale in major energy storage and photovoltaic-storage-charging station projects. Currently, he is exploring the integration of AI technology with power system simulation and analysis, control systems for large transmission projects, coordinated control of large energy storage stations, and control systems for vast microgrids, aiming to improve the intelligent operation capabilities, safety, and economy of power grids.
