On the afternoon of April 26, a donation ceremony was held in the Conference Room of Building C, where Zhang Jianhui, alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering admitted in 1995 and founder, chairman, and CEO of Beijing Hyper Strong Technology Co., Ltd., donated to Tsinghua University. The donation will be used to support the construction and maintenance of the Tsinghua International Conference Center. Qiu Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University and Chairman of the Education Foundation, attended the ceremony. Yang Bin, Deputy Director of the University Affairs Committee, presided over the donation ceremony.

Zhang Jianhui reflected on his journey from studying at Tsinghua, returning from overseas to start a business, to serving the nation through industry. He expressed that Tsinghua’s motto, “Self-discipline and Social Commitment,” along with its school spirit of “Actions speak louder than words,” has always been a guiding beacon inspiring him to strive forward. Hyper Strong’s growth from a startup to an international leader owes much to the strong support of alumni and society, demonstrating the deep integration of industry, academia, and research at Tsinghua. This donation is an expression of gratitude to his alma mater and a hope to contribute to Tsinghua’s educational cause, cultivating more high-quality talents who are both virtuous and capable, ready to take on national responsibilities.

Qiu Yong sincerely thanked Zhang Jianhui on behalf of the university for his generous donation. He noted that Zhang has long been committed to supporting the university’s development and student growth, exemplifying Tsinghua people’s sense of gratitude and social responsibility. The International Conference Center will serve as a hub for global exchange and cooperation, hosting international frontier dialogues and becoming a source of reform and innovation. It is believed that this donation will help Tsinghua enhance its international cooperation efforts and contribute more to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Zhang Jianhui signed the donation agreement with Yuan Wei, Secretary-General of the Tsinghua University Education Foundation. Qiu Yong presented Zhang with a commemorative plaque for the donation.

Representatives from Beijing Hyper Strong Technology Co., Ltd., Tsinghua Holdings Ginkgo Venture Capital Management Co., Ltd., Wuyuefeng Capital, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, the Discipline Office, the International Office, the Infrastructure Office, the Student Career Development Center, the Alumni Association, and the Education Foundation of Tsinghua University attended the ceremony.

Profile of Zhang Jianhui:

Zhang Jianhui is an alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering admitted in 1995 and the founder, chairman, and CEO of Beijing Hyper Strong Technology Co., Ltd. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation in 1999 and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from Tsinghua University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and worked for six years at National Semiconductor Corporation in the U.S. In 2010, he returned to China as CTO of Siemens China’s Smart Grid Group. In 2011, he founded Beijing Hyper Strong Technology Co., Ltd. In September 2023, Zhang was awarded the title of “Outstanding Builder of the Cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in Beijing.”
