 The 8th Jingde Forum was successfully held on in the Lecture Hall 217, Zone 3, West Main Building on June 14. Academician Guo Jianbo was invited to give a report titled “Understanding the Evolution Trend of New Type Power Systems”. More than 100 teachers and students from both inside and outside Tsinghua University, including Director Min Yong from the State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control, professors He Jinliang, Dong Xinzhou, Wu Wenchuan and Guo Qinglai from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) participated in this event. The report was chaired by Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA.

Kang Chongqing introduced the background and purpose of the Jingde Forum, and introduced Academician Guo Jianbo.

Subsequently, Kang Chongqing, on behalf of the EEA, granted Academician Guo Jianbo commemorative certificate and commemorative medal of Jingde Forum.

Then, Academician Guo Jianbo gave a keynote speech on “Understanding the Evolution Trend of New Type Power Systems”. Academician Guo Jianbo pointed out in his report that the construction process of the new type power system will face long-term “contradictory triangle” challenges of safety, economy and environment. As an important part of the new type energy system, the new type power system will reflect the “trilemma indexesand contradictions of multi-energy and multi-industry in the process of evolution. These contradictions present diversity and complexity, so it is necessary to understand the evolution trend and development laws of new type power systems from the perspective of energy and social systems with a holistic view. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the two-wheel drive of policy management and technology industry. Governments at all levels, all walks of life and stakeholders need to jointly realize the new balance and healthy development of the new type power system under the "contradictory triangle" of safety, economy and environment.

 

Teacher-student exchange of views

After the report was completed, Min Yong presided over the exchange session between Academician Guo Jianbo and the attending teachers and students. In this session, the teachers and students actively ask questions and exchanged their views based on their respective research directions. Through the wonderful speech of Academician Guo Jianbo, students have gained a deeper understanding of the evolution trend of the new type power system and have put forward new thoughts and inspirations for its future development. They expressed their intention to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, increase research efforts on new type power systems, and make a more positive contribution to promoting the sustainable development of new energies.

The successful holding of this forum is expected to promote the research and application of new type power systems, promote innovative development in the energy field, and contribute to the sustainable development of China’s power industry.

About Academician Guo Jianbo:

Guo Jianbo is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, senior advisor of State Grid Corporation of China, honorary president of China Electric Power Research Institute, vice chairman of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and an expert on power system analysis and control. He has been engaged in power system analysis and control research for a long time, presided over a series of studies on the planning of China’s national interconnected power grid (2020-2050) in the 1990s; presided over the development of controllable series compensation devices and UHV (1000kV) series compensation devices, led the development of the cross-regional AC-DC coordinated control system, organized the establishment of China’s “National Energy Large-scale Wind Power Grid Incorporated System R&D (Experiment) Center”, presided over the 2030  “New Generation Artificial Intelligence” major technological innovation research project Basic Theory of Hybrid Intelligent Enhancement of Big Grid Regulation with Human in the Loop”.
