On February 10, the 2023 Annual Meeting of Management Committee, Joint Research Center of Virtual Power Plant Technology for Zero Carbon Smart Park of Tsinghua University (EEA) — Towngas Energy Investment Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Research Center”) was held in Tsinghua University. The management committee conducted in-depth discussions on important issues such as the first year’s work results, future work plans and development directions of the Research Center.

The meeting was presided over by Guo Qinglai, Director of the Research Center and Deputy Director of the Teacher Development Center of Tsinghua University. Qiu Jianhang, director of the Management Committee, executive director of Towngas Smart Energy and President of Renewable Energy Operations, Yu Xinjie, director of the Management Committee and secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), and Sun Hongbin, member of the committee, Wu Yukeng, senior vice president of Towngas Energy, Wu Wenchuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, Zhang Jing, senior vice president of Towngas Energy, Hu Wuhua, member of the management committee and vice president of Towngas Energy, Zhou Jun, executive vice president of Towngas Energy Research Institute, Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Research Center, Zhang Yi, assistant vice president of Towngas Energy, Gao Feng, vice president of the Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute, Wang Bin, deputy director of the Research Center, and some other leaders of the management committee, experts and heads of various subjects attended the meeting.

In his speech, Yu Xinjie expressed his gratitude to Towngas Energy for its support to Tsinghua University’s scientific research work. The research center, positioned at “Zero-carbonization and Intelligentization", integrates the complementary advantages of Tsinghua University and Towngas Energy, and all subjects related have shown phased research results, EEA will further cooperate with Towngas Energy as always, and cooperate in depth to support various tasks of the Research Center. Through the collaboration among six subjects, EEA will overcome a series of technical difficulties faced by the “Zero-carbon Park” in digital and intelligent operation.

Guo Qinglai reported on the overall annual situation of the Research Center. Under the leadership of the management committee, the Research Center, by working together with EEA and Towngas Energy on six subjects, has established a sound cooperative management mechanism and communication mechanism to promote the project. On the basis of the existing achievements to satisfy the engineering demand in Futian Virtual Power Plant Project, Shenzhen, a preliminary plan for actualization and division of labor has been formed, laying a solid foundation for future research.

Qiu Jianhang spoke highly of the phased research results achieved by the Research Center since its establishment one year ago, and pointed out that the current research and actualization of the virtual power plant in the zero-carbon park should truly create value for the partners, and constantly focus on the development and construction of the zero-carbon smart park project and the energy digitalization, transformation and upgrading, and the virtual power plant need to integrate business models, technologies and policies. He hoped that the Research Center will realize the organic combination of production, study, research and application, apply complex technologies to virtual power plant, take Towngas Energy as the market leader and Tsinghua University as the technology leader, realize win-win and put virtual power plant technologies on the motherland of China.

The person in charge of each project reported on the annual research progress, and the Research Center conducted in-depth discussions on projects to be actualized this year and collaboration to be reinforced.

The Joint Research Center of Virtual Power Plant Technology for Zero Carbon Smart Park of Tsinghua University (EEA) — Towngas Energy Investment Limited was established on April 24, 2022 at the 90th anniversary of EEA. This cooperation is oriented to the research on virtual power plant technologies for zero-carbon smart parks. The virtual power plant is an important element in building a new type power system with new energy as the main body. It can balance supply and demand, solve problems such as intermittent supply fluctuations, promote high energy efficiency and clean energy utilization, and help achieving the “dual carbon” goal.
