Recently, the 2022 China Emerging Science and Technology Forum and the 2022 Award Granting Ceremony for Emerging Technology Figures of China, hoisted by the Science and Technology Communication Center of the China Association for Science and Technology, were held online. Nominated and elected by people from all walks of life and reviewed by experts, Li Quanxin from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of Tsinghua University won the 2022 Outstanding Impact Award for Emerging Technology Figures of China.

The award-winning achievement proposed the lightning M-component calculation model of towers under lightning strikes for the first time, innovated in the lightning discharge process simulation calculation method, and revealed the characteristics of the electric field radiation wave form of towers under lightning strikes, which provided a theoretical basis for lightning protection in wind power, high-rise buildings and aerospace launches.

It is known that the election of emerging technology figures of China, “Rooted in academic soil and supporting future stars”, is committed to promoting outstanding young scholars and motivating young scholars to forge ahead. In 2023, winners for 5 categories, including Shining Potential Award, Innovative Contribution Award, Outstanding Impact Award, Brilliant Achievement Award and Top Ten Emerging Technology Figures, were elected. A total of 48 scientists won the award for 2022 Emerging Technology Figures of China. 10 scholars were elected for the Outstanding Impact Award.
