On July 27, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) and State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company signed a letter of intent for cooperation. Wang Xinwei, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid Beijing Company, and Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches. Zhang Tieheng, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company presided over the meeting. Shi Jingjian, Chief Engineer of State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company, and Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of EEA, signed a letter of intent for cooperation on behalf of each side.

Kang Chongqing thanked State Grid Beijing Electric Power for its long-term strong support for various work of EEA. He said that State Grid Beijing Electric Power has been fully serving the overall work of the Party and the Country for a long time, actively fulfilling its social responsibilities as a state-owned enterprise in terms of ensuring safety and power supply, and making contribution to the economic development of the capital. State Grid Beijing Electric Power has a good culture of scientific and technological innovation. Especially since this year, State Grid Beijing Electric Power has successfully completed the task of ensuring power supply for the Winter Olympics. At the same time, it has carried out a forward-looking scientific and technological innovation layout, including new ideas and new technologies in the demonstration and construction of new power systems for the sub-city center. He emphasized that the content of the cooperation between the two parties is in line with the national “dual carbon” goal and major strategies such as building a new power system. EEA will give full play to the role of national key laboratories, think tanks of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua-State Grid Joint Research Institute and other advantageous scientific research platforms, actively participate in major scientific and technological research work of State Grid Beijing Electric Power, establish and improve a normalized cooperation mechanism, and work together to promote the construction of pilot demonstration projects for advanced technologies in the power system, expand cooperation in vehicle-network interaction demonstrations and the training of leading electric power talents, and jointly promote the construction of a new power system in the capital.

Wang Xinwei thanked EEA for its care, support and professional guidance for the development of the company’s power grid and enterprise management over the years. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping had put forward a series of important deployments such as “four revolutions and one cooperation” new energy security strategy, “carbon peaking, carbon neutrality”, and building a new power system, which will clearly direct the innovation and development of the power grid. State Grid attaches great importance to scientific and technological innovation, and proposes to strive to be the promoter, forerunner and leader of the energy revolution. The company undertakes the important responsibility of serving and ensuring the safe supply of electricity in the capital. It is urgent to make improvement in terms of safety, standards, technology, market, and management in the energy transformation of the capital. He emphasized that EEA of Tsinghua University has strong faculty, high level of scientific research, great social influence, and world-renowned innovative achievements. At present, the company is closely following the development layout of “one body and four wings” of the State Grid Corporation of China, and promoting the implementation of the “13223” development idea. He hoped that the two sides will go hand in hand to increase the in-depth integration of production, education and research in the demonstration construction of new power systems such as urban sub-centers, vehicle-network interaction demonstration research, virtual power plant construction, carbon monitoring service platform construction, and group regulation and group control technology research, enlarge cooperation in exploring collaborative mechanism, strengthening joint research, training leading talents, and accelerating achievement transformation, so as to better serve the capital development in the new era.

According to the letter of intent for cooperation, the two sides will establish a high-level scientific and technological research, comprehensive resource sharing, normalized technical exchange and cooperation mechanism, and strengthen cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and talent training.
