Recently, the “3rd Blended Instructional Design Innovation Competition among Colleges and University of China” came to an end.After preliminary competition, intermediary competition and finalcompetition,Professor Zhu Guiping of the Department of Electrical Engineeringand Applied Electronics won the first prize depending on her outstanding performance with her course“Circuit Principle” out of 404 candidate items from 157 colleges and universities in China.

Thecourse teaching video submitted by Zhu Guiping was developedunder the title of“Blendedinstructional design based on a completely flipped classroomof a small class”, explaining the teaching philosophy and mental processin teaching the “CircuitPrinciple”, especially the “ADDIE” teaching design method she adopted. In the defense sessionat the finals, Zhu Guiping shared her own thoughts on the effectiveness of the teaching model. With the joint efforts of Zhu Guiping and other teachers in theCircuitPrinciple teaching group, this course was rated as a national-level excellent course in 2006; in 2017 and 2019, it was successively selectedinto the “First batch of excellent online open courses” and the “first batch of online first-class courses”; in 2020, the teaching group was rated as an excellent undergraduate education team in Beijing; the course wasalsorated as a national-level ideological and political demonstration course in 2021.

Zhu Guiping believes that after three rounds of the competition,what she received wasnot only awards and honors, but also a further understanding of teaching methodology and significance. “This competitionmade me review and sort out the myblended teaching experience in the past nine years. In the past,I didn’t really clarifiedthecorrespondence of each blended teaching link to the teaching goal,and now I realized that each teaching linkis corresponded to eachteaching goal, which can beclosely integrated with the “3-in-1” education concept of theuniversity.”

The 3rd Blended Instructional Design Competitionamong Colleges and Universities of Chinais guided by the Chinese Higher Education Development Network (CHED), hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Peking University, and co-hosted by 15 universities including Tsinghua University. The competition has been included in thestatistical source for“National College Teacher Teaching Competition Analysis Report" and “National College Teacher Teaching Development Index” of the China Association ofHigher Education, and it is one of the important indexesfor measuring the teaching development ecology of college teachers.
