In the keynote report session, Academician Guo Jianbo first gave a report entitled “Challengesfor NewPowerSystems withNewEnergies as theMainstay”. Inhis report, hereviewed the “carbon peak and carbon neutral” goal proposed by President Xi Jinping, analyzed thechallenges forabundance, safety and market mechanism design of the new power system with new energies as the mainstay, and shared his views on the short-term, medium-term and long-term phased goals and technical routes in power system transformation.

Academician Guo Jianbo delivered a keynote speech

Professor Dushan Boroyevich gave a keynote report entitled “Global Intergrid: An Electronized Future Power System for Sustainable Energy Abundance?”, in which he pointed out that electrification will play a key role in solving future energy crisis and challenges, but the current smart grid technology is not enough to support the development of future energy systems; we need to build a new electronized power gridto balance the fluctuations and changes of renewable energies and power consumption, before wefinally form a new globalintergrid architecture to solve the challenges of climate change and energy crisis.

Professor Dushan Boroyevich gave a keynote speech

Academician Tang Guangfu gave a keynote report entitled “Trends and Challenges of High-Power Power Electronics Technology for Power System Applications”. In the report,he explored the development strategy of energy transition in China, introduced the development trend of power electronized power grid in energy transition, and discussednine major technical challenges includingpower electronic devices, strong stress multi-physical field control, electromagnetic interference, broadband characteristics analysis, etc.

Academician Tang Guangfu delivered a keynote speech

Professor Saifur Rahman gave a keynote report entitled “Role of the Smart Grid in Facilitating the Integration of Renewables”. In the report, Professor Saifur Rahman analyzed the current installed capacity and development trendofglobal renewable energy in the nextdecade, discussed the challenges of renewable energy fluctuations to system operation,as well as thedevelopment trend and key technologies ofsmart grids and interconnected microgrids.

Professor Saifur Rahman gave a keynote speech

At the end of the keynote report session, Dr. Don Tan made a report entitled “Autonomous Substation and 100% Renewable Energy Penetration”. In his report, he discussed the technical challenges and current status ofmicrogrid island operation, power system inertia, voltage/reactive power regulation, harmonic stability, and renewable energy penetration in five parts, andshared his views on the future of power electronized energy systems.

Dr. Don Tan gave a keynote speech

After the keynote report session, the forum held a panel discussion. Academician Guo Jianbo, Academician Tang Guangfu, Professor Dushan Boroyevich, Professor Saifur Rahman, Dr. Don Tan and Professor Liu Jinjun participated in the roundtable discussion session, and Professor Zhao Zhengming presided over the roundtable discussion. Experts at the meeting discussed the reform of the power system and mechanism, key equipment and technologies of the power electronized power system, further integration of power electronics and the power system, stability and reliability of the power electronized power system, future relationshipsbetweenAC andDC power energysystems, etc. Audience at present and onlinealso participated in the round-table discussion through questions. The opinions of the experts aroused a strong response from the audience, and the atmosphere was enthusiastic.
