On January 15, 2019, the State Key Laboratory of Safety Control and Simulation of Power System and Large Power Generation Equipment held the 2018 annual meeting of the Academic Committee Room 102, Area 3, West Main Building in Tsinghua University (THU). A total of 37 academic members and fixed personnel of the Laboratory attended the meeting, which was chaired by Academician Zhou Xiaoxin, director of the Academic Committee.
Prof. Liang Xidong, director of the Laboratory, reported on the work of the National Key Laboratory in 2018 from eight aspects: five-year evaluation, scientific research directions, main topics of the year 2018, annual representative achievements and important progress, laboratory construction, academic team building and personnel training, international cooperation and open exchange.
Prof. Sun Hongbin, Prof. Zhao Zhengming, Associate Prof. Li Qi and Prof. Yang Hairui respectively gave special reports on four annual representative results: (1) The exploration and Online Application of Intelligent automation operator (AO); (2) The dynamic characterization and control of large capacity power electronics hybrid system; (3) The self-repairing of thermoplastic insulation material electric tree aging; (4) The basic research on multi-parameter inertial imbalance and ultra-low emissions under variable conditions of unit.
Members of the Committee held a heated discussion on the work of key laboratories in the past year, and put forward their opinions and suggestions on the future development of the Laboratory.
Members pointed out that enterprises have a great impact on the universities which intend to get national awards, but universities should lead the development of the industry and play their own role when they cooperate with enterprises; the future outlet of universities should still be to carry out basic and forward-looking researches; the layout of electrical research should be combined with the general situation of energy transformation. Sun Hongbin's intelligent dispatching research direction concerns the intrinsic safety of the system. In this direction, great things can be done; Prof. Zhao Zhengming's breakthrough in mechanism is what universities should do; young people should focus on and grasp the key direction; disciplines should be laid out, and a good scientific research environment should be established so that young people can grow better and faster. Generally speaking, colleges and universities should lead and cooperate with enterprises.
Members actively offered advice and suggestions on the future development of the laboratory. Director Liang Xidong listened carefully to the suggestions of the members and expressed that he would think deeply about the relevant opinions and actively implement them.
