l        Design of Macro Pattern and Topology for Three-Level Power Grid Composed of Transmission Grid, Distribution Grid and Micro-Grid,

supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China- NSFC (2009– 2011)

This project will propose planning theories and network dynamics stability analysis methods applied to three-level power grid composed of transmission gird, distribution grid and micro-grid. The research will not only provide technical support for the popularization and application of distributed power generation, but also the planning and construction of Chinese future power grid.

l        Engineering Application of Nonlinear Robust Power System Stabilizer (NR-PSS)

This project carries out a research on engineering application of nonlinear robust power system stabilizer (NR-PSS). Wholly digitalized and intelligent industrial NR-PSS equipment has been developed, which will be put ino operation in Baishan, Fengman, Hongshi Hydro power stations of Northeast China Power Grid.

l        Optimal Decision Support Platform for Large Power Networks,

This project focuses on establishing an optimal decision support platform for large, interconnected power networks, which will propose a new means of providing coordinated control to large interconnected power systems to maintain power system stability.

l        Abnormal Dynamics and Characteristics of Extra Large-scale Power Systems,

supported by NSFC (2005 – 2009)

This project aims to investigate into the abnormal dynamics and characteristics of extra large-scale power systems, reveal the fundamental reasons underlying extra-low frequency oscillations and cascading outages, and establish the theory of dynamic voltage stability emergency control for large load centers.

l        The Transient Stability of Power System (National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars),

supported by NSFC(2006 – 2009)

This project studies the security and stability problem of power systems and lays a solid foundation for the security evaluation and collapse prevention of power systems.Through the research of this project, we build the multi-scale calculation theory of power system transient analysis, including two branches, power system semi-tensor product, which faces the micro-level, and the power system self-organized criticality method, which faces the macro-level.

l        Hybrid Control for Voltage Stability ,

This project carries out a research on the general theoretical structure and control approach of hybrid control of a physical power system, proposes the corresponding implementation method, which is furthermore applied into HAVC.
